Phoenix Suns All Time Team

 

Starting 5:

PG:  Kevin "KJ" Johnson - KJ as he was known in the valley of the sun is the Suns all time leader in Assists (6,518) and Free Throws made (3,851) among being in the top five in other categories including 3rd in total points. He was also a three-time All-Star and named All-NBA 2nd Team four times. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

SG:  Walter Davis - Sweet D as he was known is the Suns all time leader in total points (15,666) as well as in two other categories. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 1978, was named an All-Star six times. He is said to be the Suns best pure shooter in the teams history. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

SF:  Dick Van Arsdale - Known as the orginal Phoenix Sun, Arsdale scored the first basket in the franchises history and didn't stop there. He ranks in the top five of seven Suns all time categories and was an All-Star three times. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

PF:  Charles Barkley - Sir Charles was traded to the Suns in the 1992-1993 season and with him he brought an attitude that arguably no other Phoenix Sun has ever brought. He won the mvp that season and guided the Suns to the NBA Finals where they eventually lost to the Bulls in six games. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor and is in the Basketball Hall Of Fame.

C:  Alvan Adams - The Suns all-time leader in games played (988), minutes played (27,203), rebounds (6,937) and steals (1,289), began and ended his career as a Sun. He won the first ever Rookie of the Year award in the Suns organization's history in 1976. Alvan Adams was always one of the most consistent Suns players ever and is one of the few players to begin and finish his career as a Phoenix Sun. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

Bench Players:

Connie Hawkins - One of the greatest players in NBA history, he is on the bench because he didn't have as long of a tenure with the Suns that Adams had. He is a legend and is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

Dan Majerle - The Suns all time leader in 3pt field goals (800) was booed when he was originally drafted by the Suns but quickly became one of the most popular players in team history. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

Paul Westphal - Not only did he play for the Suns he also coached them to the NBA Finals in 1992-1993. Westphal has always been a fan favorite in Phoenix and has spent a lot of his career working in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, he is currently an assistant on the Dallas Mavericks and is in the Suns Ring of Honor.

Tom Chambers - Tom Chambers when he signed with the Phoenix Suns in the late 80's turned this team around. He was a scoring machine during his time with the Suns and is remembered for his thunderous dunks and a game in which he scored 60 points. He is a member of the Suns Ring of Honor.

Shawn Marion - Although he was recently traded by the Suns to Miami Marion left his legacy on the Suns being in the top 5 in many major Phoenix Suns statistics. He was drafted as a Phoenix Sun and will someday be enshrined in the Suns Ring of Honor. He's in my fave 5 still, i'll always be a Shawn Marion fan.

Steve Nash: Originally drafted by the Suns, Steve Nash has won 2 MVP awards, both with the Phoenix Suns and has been an all star for four straight years. He will also one day be enshrined in the Suns Ring of Honor

Amare Stoudemire - At such a young age Stat has quickly become one of the most dominant power forwards in the NBA and can only get better as he just starts to reach the early stages of his prime. Drafted straight out of high school by the Phoenix Suns, Amare won Rookie of the Year over Yao Ming and has been selected to be an all star several times. He will also one day be enshrined in the Suns Ring of Honor.
